Finance and Treasury Officer
Tamworth - Full Time Role - 76 hours per fortnight

About the Role:

 

The Finance and Treasury Officer role sits at the heart of the Finance Department and supports a wide range of corporate finance functions that help the organisation deliver key community services. You will work across the full finance team and collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations.

 

The position offers strong exposure to varied financial duties along with the chance to build depth and breadth in accounting and finance. Challenge will provide mentoring and development opportunities to support your professional growth.

Duties:

 

  • Input and analyse financial data across systems such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Banking, Budget Management, Project Management and Asset Management
  • Undertake accounts payable and procurement functions
  • Assist with billing and accounts receivable
  • Support reconciliations, internal audits, cash flow monitoring and investments
  • Help prepare workpapers, reconciliations and information for Annual Financial Statements and reporting
  • Assist with budget reviews, reports, BAS preparation and fringe benefit requirements
  • Support monthly financial reviews, end of month processing and payroll checks
  • Contribute to annual budget development and maintenance
  • Provide budget management support to Business Unit Managers
  • Complete month end reporting tasks, including journals and ledger reviews
  • Assist with preparation of year-end audit information
  • Provide relief and backup within the Finance Department
  • Participate in special projects and create ad-hoc reports
  • Support staff learning in the use of financial systems and tools

 

 

Skills and Experience:

 

Essential:

  • Experience in a similar financial role and/or qualifications in Finance, Business or Commerce
  • Strong skills in financial accounting software, Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven problem solving ability
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a calm and professional way
  • High accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn and openness to new tasks

 Desirable:

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Business or Commerce
  • Experience in a large corporate finance environment
  • Experience with multi-functional finance and accounting systems
